Dealing with Anger

Everyone at some time loses their temper, and anger is a very necessary emotion in many ways, but sometimes it becomes necessary to learn to control your anger, before it completely controls you. If you find that you are having problems dealing with anger, then there are some simple positive ways in which you can help yourself to re-take control of your emotions. Sometimes it is important just to take a deep breath and count to ten, giving yourself just that little bit of space between you and the situation, and at the other extreme it may be necessary to seek professional help, either on line or in person, but there are things which you can definitely do to help yourself in the mean time.

Do you know someone who always tries to see the positive or the funny side of life? Someone who always tries to smile, even when the chips are down? I bet you do, and I bet that person doesn’t have problems dealing with anger, that’s because humour can actually help, so by developing your own sense of humour and trying to copy this behaviour you can actually help to control your own anger.

Another effective way of dealing with anger is simply to change your environmental situation. This can mean something as simple as dotting candles around the place instead of harsh lights, or going for a walk when a situation becomes tense and you can feel that you are going to blow. By avoiding these situations you can actually learn to control your anger, and come back again when you are maybe feeling in a better frame of mind to deal with it. It is important to learn to relax and recharge your batteries and you can then meet the world in a calmer, more positive state of mind.
